Our non-invasive Cardiology Services provide for the diagnosis and monitoring of heart disease, on both an inpatient and an outpatient basis. The department utilizes state-of-the-art technology, licensed and certified technologists and supplies prompt results.

Cardiology services include:

Cardiopulmonary Services

Cardiopulmonary Services offers services for several medical specialties.

Pulmonary care services include: aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, chest physiotherapy, emergency resuscitation, arterial blood gases, and pulmonary function testing.

Cardiology services include: ECGs, cardiac stress testing, echocardiograms, stress echos, transesophageal echos, and cardiac event monitoring.

Neurology services include: EEGs and polysomnograph studies.

Cardiopulmonary Services is staffed 24-hours per day and diagnostics are routinely offered Monday through Thursday 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m. (CLOSED FRIDAYS) 
 

Cardiac Rehabilitation Services

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Services at Haywood Regional Medical Center are designed to help participants learn to modify and control risk factors and achieve and maintain optimal health through physical exercise and education. This service is offered in our beautiful, 54,000 sq. ft. Health & Fitness Center.

If you have experienced a heart attack, Stent, or open heart surgery, you may be a candidate for Cardiac Rehabilitation. We currently offer phase 2 cardiac rehabilitation for patients with a physician referral.  Diagnosis' that may qualify for our program include:

  • CABG
  • Stent
  • Valve repair/replacement
  • CHF (must meet guidelines)
  • Stable angina (must meet guidelines)

If you have ever been diagnosed with a chronic pulmonary disorder you may be a candidate for pulmonary rehabilitation. We currently offer phase 2 pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with a  physician referral. A few diagnosis that may qualify for our program include:

  • COPD
  • Asthma
  • Pulmonary Fibrosis

More pulmonary conditions do qualify for our program, however, due to the complexity behind the diseases, it would be best if you contact us with your specific information.

Our program is typically 36 session, with patients attending 2-3 sessions a week. This usually takes about 3-4 months. Each class session entails cardiovascular conditioning and either strength training or a educational component. Our classes are held in group format, however, the program is individualized to help patients reach their goals through lifestyle (exercise, behavioral, nutrition) modification. Haywood Regional's Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation is offered on the 1st floor of the Haywood Health and Fitness Center located at 75 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28704. Enter through the front door and turn left at the front desk.
