Haywood Regional Medical Center is ringing in 2016 with the year’s first bundle of joy. Weighing 7 pounds and 7 ounces and measuring 21” inches, Liliana was born to Elan and Ryan, on Saturday, Jan. 2nd, at 11:41pm.  Delivering the first baby of the year was Michael Hightower, MD.  “I am fortunate to work alongside an outstanding team of clinical and support staff to bring new life into this world and our community on New Year’s Day weekend and year-round. We consider it a privilege to serve the labor and delivery needs of Western North Carolina,” said Michael Hightower, MD. “Our expectation is that every patient and his or her family will have a positive experience and genuinely feel our commitment to delivering high quality, compassionate care.”

HRMC’s Women’s Care Center is committed to providing excellent personalized care close to home for new and expecting parents. HRMC’s Women’s Care Center offers private labor and delivery rooms where new mothers may room-in with their babies after delivery in a cheery, home-like atmosphere.  The rooms also feature convertible couches which become beds for family members to stay with moms. The unit also boasts Jacuzzi soaking tubs and a nursery. Highly trained and skilled OB/GYN Physicians, Pediatricians, Nurses, and Lactation Consultants are on staff to ensure that mom and baby have a comfortable and safe environment during this important event. Women and Children’s services at Haywood Regional Medical Center include new parent classes, big brother/big sister classes, parenting support groups, and CPR classes.
