Haywood Regional Medical Center Announces October Sunshine Award Winners
October 22, 2021
Haywood Regional Medical Center’s (HRMC) Sunshine Award is a recognition program for hospital employees who provide non-nursing ancillary care, support services personnel, and volunteers. This award honors the highly valued and appreciated co-workers and volunteers who show exceptional service and compassion every day. We are pleased to announce two winners for this month: Jeff Heatherly, Electrician, who works in Engineering and Dina Holt, CNA, who works on the MedSurg floor.
Jeff Heatherly’s nominator shared a story about Jeff’s quick response to a need repairing a bed so that it could be used for a patient. These “small” actions add up to great teamwork! And Heatherly is often performing side duties as a chaplain for those patients who request those services. Jeff is truly an asset to Haywood in many ways.
Then, Dina Holt, CNA, was nominated by two patients/patient families, some of whom faced long hospital stays. They shared, “She always has a smile on her face and an encouraging word…Sometimes the little gestures are often overlooked but not by Dina!” Thanks for your passion for patient care, Dina.
Said HRMC Chief Nursing Officer Susan Mahoney, “We have an extraordinary staff here at Haywood, and I’m so pleased to see this work recognized by peers and community members alike. Congratulations to both of this month’s winners!”
Sunshine Award recipients may be nominated by patients, visitors, co-workers, volunteers, or physicians. Sunshine Award winners are selected monthly. Visit MyHaywoodRegional.com/SunshineAward to nominate.
