Though this school year will look a little different, Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) continued its annual Backpack Program to help students of hospital and practice employees. Employees were able to sign up with specific classroom/student needs, which were then shared for individuals or departments to sign up and stock a backpack for each student.

“We’ve been doing this program for four years now,” shared Susan Mahoney, CNO. “We know the importance of student success, and being able to come together and help our staff get their kids ready for the year – especially this year – means a lot.”

Haywood provided 34 stocked backpacks for local students this year, along with snacks, hand sanitizer and a few masks. HRMC looks for opportunities to serve it's staff and community throughout the year.
