Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) has joined other area hospitals, healthcare organizations, and LifeShare Carolinas to create a donation-friendly community through the Workplace Partnership for Life Hospital Campaign for organ donation. This national initiative sponsored by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services challenges healthcare organizations to educate employees, patients, visitors, and the community about the crucial need for organ, eye, and tissue donation and give them opportunities to sign up as donors. More than 552,000 people have added their names to state registries through this campaign.

“There are thousands of people currently on the national organ transplant waiting list,” said Sherry King, local LifeShare program coordinator. “Your involvement can help. It’s easy to sign up, and the result is potentially life-saving.”

HRMC asks the community to help us reach our goals for this critical need for organ, eye, and tissue donation. Due to COVID-19, HRMC is not hosting onsite donor drives this year but will be promoting on social media between now and April 30 as part of a virtual drive.
