Haywood Regional Medical Center Awards $4,000 in Scholarships to Local Students

Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) presented four scholarships to students at the County Clash football game Friday, February 26. The scholarships of $1,000 each are presented to students with the top GPAs in band and football at Pisgah and Tuscola High Schools. Designed to help fund their educations, the hospital is proud to contribute to the futures of students in our region.
This year’s scholarship recipients were:
- Pisgah High School – Band Scholarship: Caleb Holcomb, who plays drums in the band.
- Tuscola High School – Band Scholarship: Jayde Markley, who has been in the marching band for five seasons, two playing clarinet and three in color guard. She has also played clarinet in symphonic band and participates in STEM-E, debate, math club, and the National Honor Society. Jayde plans to attend NC State University and major in Engineering or Computer Science.
- Pisgah High School – Football Scholarship: Jackson Holland, a receiver on the football team who takes AP and honors classes. When not at school or practice, he works at Riverview Farm and Garden.
- Tuscola High School – Football Scholarship: Ryan Stebbins, who has played football all four years at Tuscola and is a wide receiver and linebacker. After graduation, Ryan plans to attend NC State on a path to become an optometrist.
