Haywood Regional Medical Center Announces First Sunshine Award Winners
July 22, 2021
Haywood Regional Medical Center (HRMC) recently began a new recognition program for hospital employees who provide non-nursing ancillary care, support services personnel, and volunteers. This award honors the highly valued and appreciated co-workers and volunteers who show exceptional service and compassion every day. We are pleased to announce two winners for the first round of awards: Jill Glosup in Bio-Med and Bethany James, CNA, on the Med-Surg floor.
About Jill Glosup, her nominator shared that she is always willing to help. One example given was when she dropped everything to replace a necessary machine part that allowed surgeries continue as scheduled. This is an example of the kind of work that patients don’t often see, but that is imperative to serving their needs in a safe, timely way.
Then, Bethany James, CNA, was praised for the care she completes with a reserved, quiet dignity, putting patient needs first. Her nominator shared, “Bethany’s positive resolve and superb commitment to the patient’s overall experience is why I believe she stands out.”
Said HRMC Chief Nursing Officer Susan Mahoney, “While The DAISY Award honors extraordinary nurses, we wanted a new way to recognize additional individuals that are valuable to patient experience and care. Congratulations to both of our first winners!”
Sunshine Award recipients may be nominated by patients, visitors, co-workers, volunteers, or physicians. Sunshine Award winners are selected quarterly. Visit MyHaywoodRegional.com/SunshineAward to nominate.
