Haywood Regional Medical Center is now offering 30-minute, non-invasive vascular screenings using ultrasound technology. Tests include Carotid Ultrasound, Venous Reflux Screening, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Scan, Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) and Ankle, and Brachial Index (ABI) - all for $150.

Individuals may not be aware of vascular disease due to the lack of symptoms. Early detection and treatment is the key to reduce your risk for serious or even fatal conditions like stroke, heart attack or aneurysm. “I’m thrilled that we’re offering this bundle of screenings for a low price-point – regardless of insurance coverage,” said Dr. Al Mina. “These really can be life-saving tests, and our ultrasound technologists are well-equipped to help patients become more informed about their health.”

Anyone over age 55 or over 40 with multiple risk factors may consider screening. Risk factors include family history of heart disease or stroke, history of smoking, high blood pressure, overweight, high stress levels, inactive lifestyle, high cholesterol, and diabetes.
