Haywood Regional Medical Center is pleased to welcome Samantha Levin, MD, a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, to its medical staff. Dr. Levin will begin seeing patients on Sept. 1 at Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists in Clyde.

Dr. Levin provides care for a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, with clinical expertise in sports-related injuries and arthroscopic (minimally invasive) surgery of the knee and shoulder. Her surgical practice also includes general orthopaedics, joint replacement, and trauma care. She has a particular interest in helping patients of all ages return to their active lifestyles, whether that means getting back on the field, on the trail, or simply back to everyday movement without pain.

Dr. Levin completed a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the University of Rochester, where she worked with collegiate athletes and served as team physician for St. John Fisher University. She completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at Orlando Health, where she served in multiple leadership roles and provided care for high school athletes as a volunteer team physician.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Levin to our medical staff and to the Haywood community,” said Sue Shugart, FACHE, CPPS, CEO of Haywood Regional Medical Center. “Her fellowship training in sports medicine, paired with a strong foundation in general orthopaedics and trauma, adds depth to our team and supports our mission of keeping patients active and healthy, right here at home.”

Dr. Levin earned her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and holds a master’s degree from Boston University School of Medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences with honors from the University of Chicago, where she also captained the women’s lacrosse team.

“I'm thrilled to be joining the team at Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists and to begin serving this incredible mountain community,” said Dr. Levin. “My goal is to partner with each patient to build a personalized plan for recovery and long-term mobility, whether through surgical or non-surgical care.”

Originally from Boston, Dr. Levin was drawn to western North Carolina for its natural beauty and active lifestyle. Outside of medicine, she enjoys mountain biking, skiing, backpacking, and learning to garden in her new mountain home. She also volunteers as a physician with the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team, traveling to provide care for athletes at national and international events.
