‘Mammo Mania’ Set for Sept. 29 at HRMC, Offering Mammogram Scheduling and Wellness Resources

September 08, 2025

Haywood Regional Medical Center will host Mammo Mania, a community breast health expo, on Monday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center Gym, located at 75 Leroy George Drive in Clyde.

The event is designed to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and provide women with direct access to resources that support breast health and overall wellness.

Mammo Mania will feature:

  • Special pop-up shop vendors, including permanent jewelry, boutique clothing, bras and intimates, and local baked goods.
  • Food trucks, a photo booth, and free chair massages.
  • Activities for children, creating a family-friendly environment.
  • Free educational consults with certified nutritionists, exercise specialists, breast care nurse navigators, and physicians and breast care experts.
  • On-site mammography appointment scheduling.

“Early detection saves lives, and we want to make it easier for women to take charge of their health,” said HRMC CEO Sue Shugart, FACHE, CPPS. “Mammo Mania brings together education, support, and community in a way that helps make breast health approachable and accessible.”

Women are encouraged to begin conversations about breast cancer screening with their healthcare provider at age 40, with annual mammograms typically recommended starting at age 45 for those at average risk. At Haywood Regional Medical Center, patients also have access to contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM), an advanced screening option that provides clearer images, helping detect cancers that may be harder to see with traditional mammography.

Mammo Mania is free and open to the public. For more information or to schedule a mammogram, call 828.452.8999.
