Haywood Regional Medical Center welcomes orthopaedic surgeon Michael Sirignano, MD to its medical staff

Haywood Regional Medical Center is pleased to welcome orthopaedic surgeon Michael Sirignano, MD to its medical staff. Beginning October 1, Dr. Sirignano will see patients at Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists, located at 581 Leroy George Drive, Suite 300 in Clyde, where he will offer a broad range of orthopaedic care with a special focus on shoulder and upper-extremity procedures.
Dr. Sirignano recently completed a prestigious fellowship with the Idaho Shoulder and Elbow Research Foundation, as well as an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Louisville. He earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, a master’s degree in physiology from the University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC.
With a passion for restoring mobility and quality of life, Dr. Sirignano treats conditions ranging from sports injuries and joint pain to complex fractures and degenerative conditions. While he specializes in shoulder and elbow surgery, he also enjoys caring for patients with orthopaedic needs involving the hip, knee, wrist, and other joints.
“I chose orthopaedics because it allows me to help people return to the activities they love,” said Dr. Sirignano. “Whether it’s mountain biking, rock climbing, or simply walking with grandchildren, I take pride in offering care that gets people moving again.”
Dr. Sirignano’s medical background includes extensive research in orthopaedic surgery, autoimmune disease, and sports medicine. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented research at international conferences, earning recognition for clinical excellence and academic achievement.

A native of New England, Dr. Sirignano first fell in love with the mountains of western North Carolina when visiting during his time as a student at Wake Forest University.
“I felt an immediate connection to the people and the landscape in WNC,” he said. “After more than a decade away, I’m excited to return and make a home in this beautiful community.”
Outside of work, Dr. Sirignano enjoys landscape photography, golfing, hiking, and spending time with his Norwegian Elkhound, Loki.
