Haywood Regional Medical Center to Host Lunch and Learn on Robotic Advancements and Muscle Sparing Surgery

January 05, 2026

Haywood Regional Medical Center invites community members to attend a free Lunch and Learn on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Haywood Health and Fitness Center in the second-floor classroom, focusing on the latest innovations in muscle-sparing and robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery.

The session will be led by Arnold Silverberg, MD, with Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists, who will discuss how modern surgical techniques are transforming joint replacement care. Dr. Silverberg will explain how muscle-sparing approaches are designed to preserve surrounding tissue, reduce trauma during surgery, and support smoother recovery, while robotic-assisted technology enhances surgical precision and alignment tailored to each patient’s anatomy.

These advancements are helping many patients experience less pain after surgery, improved joint function, and greater confidence during rehabilitation. By combining robotic guidance with muscle-preserving techniques, orthopedic surgeons are able to deliver more personalized care and optimize long-term outcomes for patients undergoing joint replacement.

Educational opportunities like this Lunch and Learn help patients and families better understand how orthopedic surgery has evolved and what options may be available to them when conservative treatments are no longer effective. Attendees will gain insight into how these advancements may impact recovery timelines, physical therapy, and overall quality of life.

The Lunch and Learn series reflects Haywood Regional Medical Center’s commitment to providing accessible health education and empowering community members to make informed decisions about their care.

The event is free and open to the public, and lunch will be provided.
