Haywood Regional Medical Center Launching Ongoing Childbirth Education Classes Beginning July 1
June 02, 2026
Haywood Regional Medical Center will begin offering ongoing Childbirth Education Classes starting July 1, 2026, designed to help expectant parents feel informed, confident, and prepared throughout pregnancy, delivery, and the transition into bringing baby home.
The classes will be hosted at the Haywood Health and Fitness Center, second floor classroom, and are open to all expectant parents in the community. Sessions will take place on Wednesdays at 6:45 PM and will continue on an open-ended basis, allowing families to join throughout the program based on their stage of pregnancy and individual needs.
The educational series will cover a wide range of topics related to pregnancy and childbirth, including labor and delivery, comfort measures, medical procedures, newborn care, postpartum recovery, and feeding services. The program is designed to provide practical guidance while also helping families feel supported and empowered during one of life’s biggest transitions.
“Preparing for a baby comes with many questions and emotions, and these classes are meant to provide encouragement, education, and support along the way,” said Sue Shugart, CEO of Haywood Regional Medical Center. “We are proud to offer resources that help families feel more confident and connected throughout their pregnancy journey.”
Classes are ideal for patients planning to deliver at Haywood Regional Medical Center, though all community members are welcome to attend. Individuals are encouraged to begin classes around 28 weeks' gestation, but participants may join at any point in the series.
