July 14, 2026
Harris Regional Hospital, Haywood Regional Medical Center, and Swain Community Hospital, Duke LifePoint hospitals, are pleased to announce an expanded market financial leadership team designed to strengthen collaboration, operational support, and financial stewardship across the region.
Within the expanded structure, Amanda Motley, MAcc, will serve as Market Chief Financial Officer and Jason Godfrey will serve as Market Senior Financial Officer. Together, they will work with leaders across the three hospitals to support financial strategy and advance shared priorities across the market.
Motley brings more than eight years of progressive healthcare finance leadership experience with Lifepoint Health, including her most recent role as Chief Financial Officer of Haywood Regional Medical Center. Throughout her career, she has supported multi-hospital markets, critical access hospitals, and physician enterprises with a focus on financial operations, capital planning, service line performance, labor and productivity management, supply chain optimization, and strategic project execution.
“Amanda has been a strong and trusted leader at Haywood Regional Medical Center, and we are excited to have her expertise expanding across our market,” said Sue Shugart, FACHE, CPPS, Market President and Chief Executive Officer of Haywood Regional Medical Center. “She brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach to financial leadership and understands the important role financial stewardship plays in supporting quality care, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability.”
Godfrey has served the hospitals for 16 years in a variety of finance and decision support roles, most recently as Market Director of Finance for Harris, Haywood, and Swain. Known for his innovation and initiative in developing practical financial and clinical reporting tools, he has helped leaders across the market better understand performance, manage resources, and make timely, informed decisions. His work has also supported responsive financial tracking during significant operational events including the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Helene.
“This expanded financial leadership structure reflects our continued focus on thoughtful stewardship across the market,” said Ashley Hindman, Chief Executive Officer of Harris Regional and Swain Community Hospitals. “Amanda and Jason each bring important experience and perspective to this work, and we are grateful for their leadership as we continue supporting the needs of communities across western North Carolina.”
Motley earned a Master of Accountancy and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Averett University. She is also a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Godfrey attended Haywood Community College and Southwestern Community College and earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from Western Carolina University.
For nearly a century, Harris Regional Hospital, Haywood Regional Medical Center, and Swain Community Hospital have collectively served generations of Western North Carolinians. Across the region, the hospitals remain rooted in the purpose on which they were founded: meeting the healthcare needs of their communities and ensuring patients and families have access to trusted care close to home.
Today, that commitment includes emergency care with recognized heart attack and stroke capabilities, surgical services, women’s care, primary and specialty care, rehabilitation, imaging, and a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services designed to support patients through many stages of life and health. The expanded financial leadership team further supports that commitment, helping sustain the local care patients and families across the region depend on.
