Haywood Regional Medical Center to Host Lunch and Learn on Suicide Awareness and Prevention

Haywood Regional Medical Center invites community members to attend a free Lunch and Learn, “Starting the Conversation: Suicide Awareness and Prevention,” on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center, second-floor classroom, located at 75 Leroy George Drive in Clyde.
The session will be led by Dan Yearick, MS, LCMHC-S, who will provide an approachable and informative discussion on suicide awareness, prevention and the importance of starting conversations around mental health.
The Lunch and Learn will help attendees better understand warning signs, ways to support someone who may be struggling and the importance of connecting individuals with appropriate help and resources. The session will also address how open, compassionate conversations can help reduce stigma and create stronger support systems within families and communities.
“Conversations about mental health can be difficult, but they are incredibly important,” said Sue Shugart, CEO of Haywood Regional Medical Center. “Providing education and creating a space where people can learn how to recognize when someone may need support are meaningful steps toward building a healthier, more connected community.”
